Web Content Strategy – Post Seminar Report
The most recent seminar was well received. As with our previous event on this subject, the topic of Web Content Strategy was well covered by the speakers with plenty of crossover between the presentations to re-inforce the most important points made.
My presentation covered optimising content for syndication, the reasons for distributing content beyond your own website and some methods for keeping branding consistent when you no longer have control over the presentation of your content.
Simon Bartolo from Sitecore gave good reasons for using a full-featured Content Management System and gave a demonstration of some of the killer new feature in the latest version of Sitecore, he also announced the imminent release of a set of marketing analytics tools for Sitecore currently codenamed “Everest”.
Chris Rourke from User Vision highlighted the importance of usability testing as part of the web design and development process. He provided several examples of ways to do this in the context of differing criteria such as website size, target audience and budget.
Liam Ryan from Creative Virtual gave a demonstration of their Lingubot technology in use as a virtual helpdesk with examples of the cost savings that had been achieved by some of their clients.
The feedback was mostly positive although some attendees felt that there was a little too much focus on the specific products offered by the speakers.
Short and sweet and got good info /guidelines that can easily be passed on to colleagues and management
Linda El-Ali – Turner Broadcasting
The speakers were very good and informative.
Geoff Guerin – BHSF Ltd
The big surprise of the event was a new record for the furthest distance travelled to get there. We had two attendees who had flown over from Israel specifically to attend. We were happy to set aside a couple of hours following the seminar to talk to them about the problems and solutions that they had creating web content in Hebrew, I think that we all learned something new from the exchange of ideas.
